The brain is a wonderful thing. It never stops working from the time you are born until the moment you start to make a speech.

For those of you who do not already know me, my name is Uwa, and I am Osemhen’s sister.

When Osemhen first told me - note that I was told, not asked! - That I was making a speech, I thought it was her way of getting back at me for always annoying her since she knows I am extremely shy.

Lately, I realized that it is actually an honor to be asked to address YOU. YOU are the people Osemhen and Kingsley love the most. They’ve invited you because this day would not be the same without you. And you have made them a priority in your lives by celebrating with them. You have honored them with your presence and made their day so special and unforgettable. On behalf of my family, I would like to thank you all for coming.

Having a sister is one of the greatest things I’ve gotten to experience in life. Having an elder sister is even better because it means she will always be there for me. Osemhen and I have always been very close. For as long as I can remember, we shared a room, shared clothes (if your younger sister doesn’t steal your clothes, she isn’t fulfilling her duty as a younger sister). So not only is Osemhen my sister, but she is my rock, my shoulder to cry on, my biggest fan, my biggest pain in the behind, my second closet and my best friend. As a big sister, Osemhen set a good example for me and Itasoha, she is such a beautiful person inside and out. Osemhen is the most caring, loving and motherly person I know. We have always been there for each other through thick and thin, and I couldn’t ask for a better sister to have in my life.

I remember the first time I met Kingsley, Osemhen had told us he was a friend helping her with her driving. Kingsley is the first person I think of when I think of fun. He is a patient and understanding person.

I have a little advice for the beautiful couple. First off, the wife is always right. Secondly, in the event the wife is, dare I say, wrong, please see number 1. But in all seriousness, as the years unfold, continue to look back on today and remember what brought you to this moment. No matter what life throws your way, let the love that has bound you together make you strong and there will be no obstacle you cannot overcome.

Kingsley, I would like to officially welcome you into our crazy house. I am beyond lucky to be gaining another wonderful brother. If everyone could please join me in raising a glass, to Osemhen and Kingsley, here’s to love, laughter and happily ever after. Cheers, I love you guys!
